About Us: Magnum Opus Consultants collaborates closely with American-based partners, providing top-tier offshoring and consulting services in the transportation and logistics industry.
Job Summary: We are seeking a seasoned Staff Accountant to join our team, reporting directly to the Controller. The ideal candidate will have experience in Accounts Payable, preferably with a background in transportation or logistics, and knowledge of CargoWise One.
Responsibilities
•Collaborate within a 6-person AP department, managing over 1000 vendors and handling $80M in annual payments.
•Post vendor invoices and process online payments for various overhead and tax-related invoices.
•Handle invoices for small business units within the company.
•Process Certificate of Insurance Requests and Trucker Verification.
•Complete new vendor forms and credit applications for the AP department.
•Prepare 1099 data for associated companies for tax return preparation.
•Analyze GL accounts and make recommendations for cost reduction or efficiency improvements.
•Maintain the fixed asset ledger and prepare Excel files for tax returns.
•Undertake special projects as assigned by the Controller.
•Perform journal entries for all associated companies.
•Monitor and maintain the asset lease schedule for associated companies.
•Process salesman commissions.
•Prepare various monthly and quarterly financial reports.
•Eventually process California sales tax.
•Monitor WIP and accrual reports.
•Perform additional tasks as directed by the Controller.
Qualifications
•Minimum of 3 years of experience in staff accounting, financial analysis, or AP, preferably in the transportation and logistics industry.
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent, with an understanding of GAAP.
•Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Business Suite.
•Knowledge of CargoWise One preferred but not required.
