Registered Nurse Renal Qualified

A specialised nursing opportunity is available in the East Rand for a Renal-qualified nurse with a strong interest in providing safe, patient-centred care to individuals requiring renal treatment. The ideal candidate will combine specialist knowledge with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a demanding clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring renal treatment and specialised monitoring.
• Conduct patient assessments and monitor clinical condition throughout treatment.
• Administer prescribed medication and treatment safely and accurately.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Apply specialist nephrology knowledge to support safe and effective patient care.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and clinical documentation.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control standards.
• Ensure safe handling and use of relevant equipment in accordance with competency and hospital protocols.
• Work collaboratively with doctors and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Provide patients and families with appropriate support and information.
• Promote a safe, respectful and patient-centred environment.
• Participate in quality improvement and clinical governance activities.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Post-basic/additional qualification in Nephrology is essential.
• Current registration with SANC.
• Relevant clinical experience within a renal/nephrology environment.
• Strong customer orientation and a patient-centred approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to work under pressure within a continuously changing environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willingness to fulfil the role according to the flexi-hours system and call system.
• Strong clinical judgement and attention to detail.
