SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR - CIVIL CONSTRUCTION

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take responsibility for the commercial and contractual management of civil construction projects. This role will suit a technically strong professional with solid experience in cost control, measurement, valuations, claims and contract administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of civil construction projects.
- Prepare and maintain Bills of Quantities, measurements and cost estimates.
- Conduct measurements and prepare monthly valuations and payment certificates.
- Monitor project costs, budgets and expenditure against contract values.
- Manage variations, claims, contractual adjustments and extension-of-time submissions.
- Review subcontractor measurements, valuations and payment claims.
- Prepare subcontractor orders, agreements and commercial documentation.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and contractual compliance.
- Reconcile project quantities, costs and expenditure.
- Prepare commercial reports and identify potential cost overruns and risks.
- Assist with tender pricing, cost estimates and tender documentation.
- Review drawings, specifications, scope of work and contract documentation.
- Prepare and negotiate final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
- Provide commercial support to Contract Managers and site teams.
Requirements
- Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification.
- 5–8 years' relevant experience within the civil construction industry.
- Proven commercial management experience on civil construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of measurement, valuations, variations, claims and final accounts.
- Sound knowledge of construction contracts and contractual administration.
- Experience in roads, earthworks, pipelines, bulk water, reservoirs, stormwater or municipal infrastructure will be advantageous.
- SACQSP professional registration will be advantageous.
- Excellent Excel and general computer skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and Bills of Quantities.
- Valid driver's licence.
