Junior Accountant

A well-established transport and tourism company based in Paarl is looking for a friendly, energetic and experienced Junior Accountant to join their team.

We are looking for someone who is highly confident using Xero Accounting and who enjoys working as part of a team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who is looking for a stable position within a friendly and supportive working environment.

You will work alongside the existing bookkeeper, who will provide support and assist with the day-to-day accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day accounting functions using Xero
• Processing invoices, payments and receipts
• Bank reconciliations
• Accounts payable and receivable
• Assisting with monthly financial reporting
• Maintaining accurate financial records
• Processing and reconciling transactions
• Assisting with VAT and other accounting requirements
• Liaising with suppliers and clients when required
• Supporting the management team with financial information
• Working closely with the existing bookkeeper to ensure smooth financial administration

Requirements

• Relevant accounting/bookkeeping qualification or equivalent experience
• Strong, hands-on Xero experience is essential
• Previous experience in an accounting environment
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial administration
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Good communication skills
• Professional, friendly and approachable personality
• Must be comfortable working independently while also being a strong team player
