QUANTITY SURVEYOR - BUILDING CONSTRUCTION

Our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their building construction team in the Western Cape. This opportunity is suited to a commercially focused QS with strong exposure to construction projects and a practical understanding of cost management, measurement and contractual processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage commercial and quantity surveying functions across building projects.
• Prepare and review Bills of Quantities, measurements and cost estimates.
• Monitor project costs, budgets and expenditure.
• Prepare monthly valuations and payment certificates.
• Manage variations, claims and contractual adjustments.
• Review and assess subcontractor quotations, measurements and payment claims.
• Assist with procurement and subcontractor appointments.
• Monitor project financial performance and identify potential cost risks.
• Prepare commercial reports and maintain accurate project records.
• Assist with tender pricing and analysis.
• Review drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
• Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers.
• Assist with final accounts and project close-out.

Requirements

• Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification.
• Previous experience within the building construction sector.
• Strong knowledge of construction measurement and cost control.
• Experience with valuations, variations and subcontractor management.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and Bills of Quantities.
• Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
• Good communication and negotiation abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
