Company Overview

The client is a leading water purification solutions provider delivering tailor-made solutions in water treatment chemicals and engineered plants, including potable and wastewater purification plants. The company has in-house engineering capability across chemical, metallurgical, and mechanical disciplines, providing process engineering design, R&D, and support services for potable and effluent water treatment, solid-liquid separation, chemical dosing, remote monitoring and control, and mineral process optimisation plants.

Role Summary

Lead process design, optimisation, and operational excellence across OEM equipment and technologies. Provide technical leadership, troubleshooting, and mentorship while ensuring plant improvements, productivity, cost reduction, and safe, efficient water-treatment operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead process design, optimisation, and operational improvement across OEM equipment and technologies.
• Develop PFDs, P&IDs, control philosophies, and mass/energy balances.
• Oversee OEM equipment integration, commissioning, and plant handover.
• Troubleshoot process issues and conduct root-cause analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and process efficiency.
• Lead, manage, and mentor process engineering teams.
• Support projects, technical proposals, budgets, and compliance.
• Conduct HAZOP studies and risk assessments.
• Develop technical proposals including CAPEX and OPEX estimations.
• Ensure compliance with SHEQ IMS.
• Liaise with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers.
• Use process simulation software to optimise and troubleshoot processes.

Requirements

• Education: BEng or BSc in Chemical/Process Engineering. MEng/PhD advantageous. BTech and Advanced Diplomas will not be accepted.
• Experience: 3–5+ years of proven process engineering experience, with demonstrable water and wastewater treatment experience within a mining or heavy industrial environment.
• Technical: Strong process design, simulation (Aspen, WAVE, ChemCAD, or similar), PFD/P&ID, control philosophy, mass/energy balances, commissioning, OEM integration, HAZOP, SHEQ, CAPEX/OPEX.
• Location: South Africa, preferably Gauteng. Willing to be based in Randfontein with travel to site.
• Other: Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle. Willing to travel and work underground when required.
