We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, customer centric individual to join the EHS Central Team at Amaro Foods.
Purpose
Management of the Occupational Health Clinic at Amaro Foods
KEY PERFORMANCE OUTPUTS
- Treatment of minor ailments with unscheduled medication
- Management and implementation of the company’s biological monitoring and medical surveillance program
- Assist with the development of a basic health education programme for workers
- Liaise with suppliers for maintenance and calibration of medical equipment annually
- Perform health evaluations
- Referral of individuals to a medical practitioner for further evaluation if required
- Attendance at the EHS meetings
- Development and implementation of the company hearing conservation program
- COID administration
- Assist with medical assessments in cases of incapacity related to ill health or injury
- Administration of vaccinations
- Prepare and attend audits as required
- Receipt of sick notes and arrange follow-ups if necessary
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Registered Professional Nurse with current SANC registration and annual practising certificate
- Occupational Health Nursing degree or diploma, registered as an additional qualification with SANC
- Dispensing course and authorisation to dispense medication (Section 56 of the Nursing Act 33 of 2005)
- Valid occupational audiometry certificate from an accredited provider
- Valid spirometry certificate
- Valid First Aid and Basic Life Support (CPR) certificates
- 3-4 years of occupational health experience
- Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and its regulations (including the Hazardous Chemical Agents, Noise-Induced Hearing Loss and Ergonomics Regulations), COIDA 130 of 1993 and the Basic Conditions of Employment Act
- Computer literate (MS Office)
ADVANTAGEOUS
- FMCG or food manufacturing industry experience
- Knowledge of food safety requirements (e.g. R638, FSSC 22000) and audit experience
- Ergonomics training and Risk Assessments
- Membership of SASOHN
- Valid driver's license
