Our client is looking for an experienced Automotive Paint Mixer / Colour Matcher to join their team in Johannesburg.
The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately formulating, mixing and colour matching automotive paints according to customer requirements. The role requires a strong eye for colour, excellent attention to detail and practical experience using computerised paint formulation and mixing systems.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy, consistency and quality.
- Formulate and accurately match paint colours from customer samples.
- Mix formulated colours using the relevant paint mixing system.
- Use computer-based paint formulation software to formulate and match colours.
- Assess colours and make the necessary adjustments to achieve accurate colour matches.
- Maintain a high level of colour accuracy and consistency.
- Work with automotive and light industrial paint systems.
- Apply knowledge of different paint binder systems.
- Ensure paint is mixed according to the correct formulation and required specifications.
- Follow all prescribed mixing, quality control and safety procedures.
- Handle high volumes of paint mixing while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Work efficiently to meet customer requirements and turnaround times.
- Maintain a clean, neat and organised mixing room and work area.
- Ensure mixing equipment and tools are correctly maintained and used.
- Identify and report issues relating to colour matching, paint systems, equipment or stock.
- Work closely with the sales team, management and other staff to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Maintain a professional approach when dealing with customers and colleagues.
- Minimum 5 years' practical experience as a Paint Mixer / Colour Matcher.
- Automotive paint mixing experience is essential.
- Automotive colour-matching experience is essential.
- Experience using computerised paint formulation software.
- Strong understanding of automotive paint systems.
- Good understanding of light industrial paint systems.
- Good understanding of different paint binder systems.
- Strong colour perception and an excellent eye for colour.
- Ability to accurately match colours from customer samples.
- Ability to work with high volumes of paint mixing in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work accurately and consistently under pressure.
- Ability to meet deadlines and turnaround times.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual and well organised.
- Good housekeeping and workplace discipline.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This is a fully on-site position based in Johannesburg.
Candidates must be comfortable working the required Monday to Friday and alternate Saturday hours.
Please note: Only candidates with proven practical automotive paint mixing and colour-matching experience will be considered. General painting experience without automotive paint mixing and colour-matching experience will not meet the requirements of the position.
