We are seeking highly motivated and results-driven Individual to join our Commercial team as an External Sales Development Representative (SDR) based in Durban. The Incumbent will be responsible for identifying and acquiring new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and driving revenue growth across DGT's container depot services. The role focuses on generating new leads and opportunities through outbound prospecting, involving face-to-face interactions with clients. These roles emphasize building relationships, identifying potential customers, and qualifying leads and focusing on expanding our client base, promoting DGT's value proposition, and supporting overall commercial strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED):
- Conduct outbound outreach to qualified leads using scripts and curated lead lists.
- Present client offerings clearly and professionally to generate genuine interest Assess and qualify prospects based on specific criteria, such as business needs and readiness to engage.
- Manage objections effectively and guide conversations toward scheduled appointments
- Maintain consistent follow-up with warm leads to ensure continued engagement
- Coordinate meetings and ensure a seamless transition of prospects to client sales teams.
- Monitor and confirm meeting attendance, ensuring high show-up rates.
- Collaborate closely with clients to review performance and refine outreach strategies.
- Collaborate with leadership on special projects and client onboarding.
- Provide ongoing feedback to optimize sales processes and messaging.
- Accurately record and update all activities within the CRM system
- Monitor the company's industry competitors, new products, and market conditions to understand a customer's specific needs.
- Travel within sales territory to meet prospects and customers and hunt and develop new business and opportunities to meet the targets.
Minimum Education & Experience required
- A bachelor's degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing, Logistics or a related field may be required or preferred.
- Minimum 3-7 years' proven sales experience in logistics, container depots, freight forwarding, or related sectors
- Valid driver's license and own reliable transport.
- Strong and proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of success in outbound sales and a passion for building client relationships.
- Ability to think critically and respond to objections in real time
- Self-motivated, disciplined, performance-driven and goal oriented.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively and take initiative in a fast-moving environment.
- Good understanding of depot services, supply chain, and port operations.
- Strong negotiation and closing abilities.
- Proficient in MS Office and CRM software
