Qualified Intermediate English Teacher (JHB South)

Target Student Level: Grades 4 – 9 (Intermediate & Senior Phase)

The Intermediate English Teacher will deliver high-quality, engaging, and syllabus-aligned English lessons to small groups or individual students. The goal is to build student confidence, close learning gaps, and improve academic performance in English Home Language (HL)

• Lesson Delivery: Teach core English concepts including language structures (grammar), reading comprehension, creative writing, and literature/poetry analysis.

• Curriculum Alignment: Plan and implement lessons that align with the South African CAPS curriculum

• Assessment & Feedback: Evaluate student progress through regular assessments, mock exams, and essays, providing constructive feedback to both students and parents.

• Individualized Support: Identify specific learning gaps and adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles.

• Exam Preparation: Prepare students thoroughly for school exams, cycle tests, and national assessments.

• Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, focused, and encouraging learning environment within small groups.

• Education: A completed or in-progress Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with a specialization in English, or a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with English majors plus a PGCE.

• SACE Registration: Valid registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE) is highly preferred.

• Experience: 2–5 years of experience teaching or tutoring English at the Intermediate or Senior Phase level.

• Curriculum Knowledge: Deep familiarity with the South African CAPS curriculum assessments and requirements.

• Skills: Exceptional communication skills, patience, strong organizational abilities.
