Operations Manager

We're hiring a hands-on Operations Manager to run the workshop floor at our Lanseria base, reporting directly to the founder.

Aeronautical Aviation has been doing avionics work — sales, installation, maintenance and overhaul — since 2005. We work across general aviation, helicopter and corporate operators, are accredited dealers for Garmin and Collins Aerospace, and run an in-house laser panel refurbishment capability. Our customers are based across South Africa and into the SADC region.

The role

The Operations Manager owns the day-to-day delivery of every aircraft project on the floor — on time, to the quality our customers expect, and to the margin we quoted. It's a floor job, not a desk job.

Day to day, you'll be:

• Running a daily floor stand-up — status by aircraft, hours, blockers
• Signing off the lead time on every customer quote before it leaves the building
• Holding technicians and lead engineers accountable for delivery and paperwork
• Owning project gross margin from the floor — hours used vs quoted, parts, materials waste
• Running pre-installation BOM reviews to stop over-ordering and unused stock
• Holding the SACAA AMO compliance function — approvals, audits, regulatory submissions
• Reporting weekly to the CEO on delivery, schedule and project margin

What we're looking for

• 7+ years in aviation operations — AMO, avionics shop, or similar certified workshop
• Track record of running a workshop, production team or operations function with people accountability
• Direct SACAA AMO compliance experience (or equivalent EASA Part-145 / FAA Part-145)
• Comfortable with project numbers — hours, margin, BOMs — alongside the technical side
• AME licence is a plus, not a requirement
• Right to work in South Africa

We're open to candidates stepping up — experienced workshop, technical or production team leaders ready for a manager-level seat — as well as established Operations Managers.

• Pilot or aircraft-owner background a plus

What we offer

You report directly to the founder — no layer in between. The decisions you take get made, and the judgment you bring carries weight. Pay is market-related, with a monthly performance-linked variable tied to the same KPIs you'll be running the team against.
