Role Description

  • This is a full-time, on-site Physiotherapist role based at Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital in Cape Town, with the occasional requirement to do home patient visits.
  • The Physiotherapist will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with a range of musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory, and paediatric conditions.
  • Daily responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, developing evidence-based treatment plans, delivering physiotherapy interventions, and monitoring progress.
  • The role involves working in ICU and general wards, collaborating closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, and documenting patient care in line with hospital and regulatory standards.
  • The Physiotherapist will also educate patients and families on rehabilitation goals, home exercises, and preventative care.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • BSc degree in Physiotherapy and current registration with the relevant Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
  • Valid drivers license and own transport required.
  • Clinical experience or strong interest in ICU and acute hospital-based physiotherapy, including respiratory and post-operative care.
  • Willingness to participate in hospital and home visits.
  • Experience or training in paediatric physiotherapy, with the ability to adapt communication and treatment techniques to children and their caregivers.
  • Proficiency in patient assessment, treatment planning, manual therapy techniques, and exercise prescription across general physiotherapy domains.
  • Strong documentation, time management, and organizational skills, with attention to clinical detail and adherence to professional standards.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and engage respectfully with diverse patients.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment, demonstrate sound clinical judgment, and respond appropriately in urgent or critical situations.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development, keep up to date with evidence-based practice, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Previous hospital or acute care experience is beneficial; background in Netcare or similar private healthcare settings is an advantage.
