City: Pretoria, Gauteng
Contract type: Full time

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Tax Administration & Audit Manager to join our team. This is a senior, hands-on role.

Key Responsibilities

You will oversee end-to-end tax administration and compliance, manage SARS submissions and disputes. You'll also manage tax registrations and deregistrations, handle COIDA compliance, and supervise payroll and EMP501 reconciliations — all while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.

Technical Requirements

Candidates must be proficient in a range of platforms including Pastel, Sage Online, Sage One for bookkeeping, as well as CaseWare and Draftworx for audit and financial statement compilation. Experience with SARS-specific tools is essential — including E-Filing, EasyFile. Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency is required.

Tax & Accounting Expertise

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience across the full spectrum of South African tax compliance, including VAT calculations, reconciliations and submissions, income tax and provisional tax, employee tax (PAYE), and EMP501 reconciliations. You should be confident managing back tax administration, tax disputes, reviews, and audits, as well as handling SARS queries and call centre liaison directly. Additional competencies should include dividend submissions, U-Filing management, tax directive creation and management, and COIDA submissions and query resolution.

On the accounting side, you'll be comfortable with bookkeeping up to balance sheet and financial statement preparation.

Bookkeeping Responsibilities

Beyond compliance, this role carries direct bookkeeping accountability. You will be responsible for drafting financial statements, performing VAT calculations and submissions, and handling U-Filing administration and management. You will also oversee the management of tax directives, lead the resolution of tax disputes, reviews, and audits, and serve as the primary liaison with the SARS call centre on behalf of clients or the organisation.

What You Bring

  • Applicant must be fluant in Afrikaans and English
  • A relevant qualification in Accounting, Tax, or Finance
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a tax administration or audit environment
  • Strong knowledge of SARS regulations and South African tax law
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple compliance deadlines
  • Strong communication skills for client and SARS liaison
  • A proactive, solutions-driven mindset
