Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

A leading organisation within the industrial boiler and thermal engineering sector is seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team based in Bellville.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and technically strong graduate or junior engineer to gain exposure to large-scale industrial projects, with involvement across the full project lifecycle. The role will require both local and international travel, particularly within Africa and Southeast Asia.

Key Responsibilities

• Thermal design of boilers and associated equipment

• Pressure part and detailed mechanical design

• Specification of procured equipment for boiler installations

• Reviewing and approving technical drawings from the design office

• Full project lifecycle involvement, including tendering, execution, commissioning, and after-sales support

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

• 0 – 3 years’ relevant experience in an industrial environment

• Strong academic background, particularly in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, CFD, and Stress Analysis

Skills & Competencies

• Good understanding of local and international engineering standards and regulations

• Strong communication skills (verbal and written in English)

• Ability to engage with clients at various levels

• Proficient in MS Office (Excel incl. VBA, Word)

• Experience with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and Ansys Fluent advantageous

• Able to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Salary: R30 000 – R50 000 (dependent on experience)
