PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The project manager is responsible for ensuring seamless and successful delivery of construction/corporate identity installation projects by ensuring all allocated projects are completed within the stipulated quality, cost and time parameters. This role requires a self-starter, motivated and accountable individual with the knowledge and experience of managing multiple site projects simultaneously.

The role reports to the Head of Facilities and operates with multiple Business Units and cross-functional teams. An individual who is self-led, highly motivated and can engage professionally with multiple stakeholders at different organization levels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. PROJECT PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT
  • Maximise value by providing clarity and direction throughout the project life cycle
  • Develop and structure project plans across portfolios to align teams and achieve goals effectively
  • Set project goals, milestones and objectives that support and prioritise Business objectives
  • Align key project deliverables to ensure efficient delivery and achievement of targets and objectives
  1. QUALITY AND RISK MANAGEMENT
  • Develop frameworks to identify, manage and mitigate project risks and quality metrics
  • Proactively identify, analyse, review and manage project risks to ensure maximised project delivery success
  • Perform a project risk analysis with appropriate response plans
  • Create a systematic approach to ensure project deliverables align with appropriate quality managements systems and satisfy stakeholder requirements
  • Create early warning detection systems within the project to minimise deviations and correct them to align to project parameters
  1. CONTRACTOR SUPPLIER AND VENDOR MANAGEMENT
  • Align vendor management with project objectives to create and maximise value and output for successful project delivery
  • Build collaborative supplier partnerships for mutual benefit
  • Optimize resource selection for optimal performance and compliance achievement
  • Monitor supplier performance through predetermined vendor KPI’s to achieve project goals, quality and cost efficiencies
  • Align procurement policies with project requirements for optimized project delivery and cost efficiencies and savings
  1. BUDGET AND COST MANAGEMENT
  • Develop project budgets and estimates within the allocated budget and financial parameters
  • Monitor project spending against baseline and forecasts at each project stage gate to prevent project overruns and track actual against budget spend
  • Manage and reduce variance trend analysis at each project stage gate
  • Ensure overall effective project financial management for effective benefits realization on allocated projects
  1. STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
  • Identify key stakeholders and create a strategy to manage and align individual objectives into the overall project plan
  • Build trust and relationships through an effective stakeholder management plan
  • Identify triggers and engagement opportunities to align project goals and manage resistance to targets
  • Create and manage a stakeholder matrix and engagement platforms that will align project parties
  1. COMMUNICATIONS AND REPORTING
  • Create a structured process flow for project information management
  • Develop a communication plan for stakeholder contribution and participation
  • Create and maintain a document management process for effective information flow and channels
  • Create inclusive team collaboration platforms that enhance productivity
  • Maintain and update project information to ensure correct scope execution and change management

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

Essential

  • Matric/Grade 12
  • Built Environment Diploma or higher

Advantageous

  • Project Management Qualification
  • Registration with a Project Management Accreditation Body

Experience

Essential

  • 5 years’ related experience in project management, construction and or built environment technical role
  • Demonstrated experience in turnkey projects
  • Experience managing contractors, suppliers and vendors
  • Experience managing project professional teams and internal stakeholders

Advantageous

  • Corporate and industrial property project management

  • Project Management – working knowledge of effective project life cycle management
  • Planning and organizing – ability to prioritise and multitask across competing operational demands
  • Communication – clear and professional communication with employees, contractors and leadership
  • Health and Safety – working knowledge of project health & safety management
  • National Building Regulations – working knowledge of applicable building regulations to be factored into project designs
  • Cost Management – working knowledge of financial management principles in project management to manage project budgets, costs and variances
