Mechanical Design Engineer

A leading organisation within the industrial watertube boiler and thermal engineering sector is seeking a skilled and driven Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Bellville-based team.

This role requires a hands-on engineer with strong technical ability and the capacity to manage multiple complex boiler projects simultaneously. The position offers exposure across the full engineering lifecycle, with both local and international travel, particularly within Africa and Southeast Asia.

Key Responsibilities

• Thermal design of boilers and associated equipment

• Pressure part and detailed mechanical design

• Specification of equipment for industrial watertube boiler installations

• Reviewing and approving engineering drawings from the design office

• Full project lifecycle involvement: tendering, execution, commissioning, and after-sales support

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Professional registration with ECSA (preferred)

• Minimum 3+ years’ relevant industrial experience

Skills & Competencies

• Strong academic foundation in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, CFD, and Stress Analysis

• Solid understanding of national and international engineering standards and regulations

• Strong client-facing and communication skills (verbal and written English)

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple concurrent projects

• Proficient in MS Office (Excel incl. VBA, Word)

• Experience with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and ANSYS Fluent advantageous

Package Includes

• Monthly salary: R60 000 – R80 000 (dependent on experience)
