About The Role

This position is ideal for an energetic sales professional who enjoys building relationships, influencing customer decisions, and making a measurable impact on business growth within the pharmacy channel.

Success in this role requires a highly driven and commercially minded individual with strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. A high focus on product knowledge and physiology to effectively educate & communicate product benefits and drive recommendations with HCPs and Pharmacy staff, in-line with relevant HALEON Policy & Procedures, and local regulatory & ethical code guidelines.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working independently, managing a territory, analysing sales opportunities, and consistently delivering against business objectives. A passion for healthcare, customer engagement, and achieving results is essential.

The successful candidate will be responsible to initiate, plan and achieve HALEON Consumer Healthcare’s ambition of becoming one of the most innovative, best performing, and trusted Consumer Healthcare Companies in South and Southern Africa.

This role is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with independent and corporate pharmacies, identifying business opportunities, and delivering value through customer-focused solutions. The representative acts as a trusted advisor to pharmacy staff, providing product knowledge, category insights, and support that enable customers to better serve patients and consumers.

Scope

Territory

  • Responsible for net sales budget of territory
  • New product launches (innovation) as per performance plan
  • Expert Sales Strategy - Drive brand recommendation and build HCP trust
  • Annual strategy planning on financial investment customers (Grid Stores)
  • Co-ordinate training workshops amongst Pharmacists, Front Shop Assistants and Clinic Sisters
  • Instore excellence, including implementation of MSL, TRAX KPIs and Grid Store activation
  • To grow our brands ahead of the categories in which we compete
  • Use our values and expectations to drive actions and decisions, role models values and expectations

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate and implement sales strategies to achieve & exceed corporate sales objectives
  • Grow our brands ahead of the categories in which we compete

Detail HCPs in line with the Haleon model and train staff in-store (inclusive of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Assistants, Front shop assistants & Clinic Sisters) during planned Lunch & Learn sessions (

  • Compliance with customer relationship management tool (e.g. FSFA, Veeva)
  • Effective communication of trained scientific knowledge to drive recommendation and build trust
  • Development and implementation of mutually agreed annual Customer Joint Business Plans with key customers
  • Co-ordinate the efforts of assigned 3rd Party merchandising agents within Independent Pharmacy, Clicks & Dis-Chem
  • Develop strong customer relations within the identified channels to maximise business opportunities and grow the business
  • Directly responsible for delivering against assigned sales targets by selling, merchandising, and detailing to agreed segmented & targeted customer base
  • Meet coverage criteria of the customer base according to set segmentation and targeting parameters
  • Ensure effective area distribution and supply by maintaining adequate stock cover in all customers
  • Achieve set sales targets as per business requirement and implement quarterly marketing strategy
  • Monitor and analyse sales performance through SSD data
  • Negotiate the order to meet demand and expected off-take and pull through of stock
  • Negotiate adequate share of shelf (SoS), forward share (in line with market share) to drive consumption
  • Generate action plans to correct areas of weakness and capitalise on areas of opportunity
  • Identify new business opportunities which will have a positive effect on the region and the company
  • Use all available data to maximise sales within each area
  • Initiate ideas and concepts that will drive sales
  • Meet innovation and business KPIs as per HALEON 3 Objectives +1 Development plan
  • In-depth knowledge of products once trained and maintenance of knowledge through quarterly tests (pass mark >90%)
  • Understands and abides by HALEON policies and procedures
  • Communicates effectively with senior management, peers, marketing and other departments
  • Is a respected individual with HALEON customers and staff

Required

Qualifications and skills

  • Minimum 3 years pharmacy sales experience is required
  • Good communication, administrative and interpersonal skills
  • Professional selling skills

  • Product knowledge, Anatomy & Physiology understanding
  • Territory & Customer management skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Presentation/communication skills
  • Analytical skills - an ability to analyse industry competitors through use of available data
