Bulk Gases Supply Chain Manager
The above vacancy exists within our Bulk & Supply Chain department, based in Vanderbijlpark, reporting to the GM: Bulk & Supply Chain. Suitably qualified candidates who meet the requirements of this role are invited to apply.
The Bulk Gases Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for full oversight and end-to-end management of the business unit’s operations, overall supply chain and the logistics strategy to maximize process efficiency and productivity.
Key areas of responsibility for this role would include, but are not limited to:
- Oversight and control of the national fleet.
- Create, implement, and manage strategies and processes to guarantee all product is delivered on time in full (Customer Service).
- Ensure that distribution staff deliver efficient operations, according to the requirements of their roles, to meet distribution performance goals.
- Direct workshop operations to ensure that the fleet is regularly maintained and that all related expenditure is managed within budget.
- Analyse existing processes and propose improvements and new methods to control costs, increase operational efficiencies and enhance internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Analyse and interpret data using AI tools to ensure that data is used meaningfully to optimise business processes.
- Ensure that the intercompany supply chain is managed seamlessly and in partnership with internal business units and departments.
- Ensure excellent relationship management with internal stakeholders and external customers – providing a positive experience.
- Ensure compliance with Corporate and Business SHEQ requirements, goals and targets.
Essential Requirements
- BSc/BTech Chemical/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or BSc/BTech Chemistry and a Higher Certificate/Diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain/Transport Management is essential. Alternatively, a tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Transport, combined with extensive experience in industrial gases, will be considered.
- Continuous Improvement (CI) and/or Management qualifications will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 10 – 15 years of logistics and transportation experience in an industrial gases/chemical manufacturing environment, of which 8 years need to be in a senior capacity.
- A minimum of 5 – 8 years of people management experience which includes union engagement, negotiations and management.
- Proven understanding and experience in deploying Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to improve demand forecasting accuracy, analyse supply chain data to identify risks and guide smarter decision-making, and apply AI-driven insights to streamline product supply, manage inventory effectively and streamline route planning.
- Proven understanding and experience working with safety regulations, including those outlined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
- Extensive proven experience in dangerous goods fleet management is critical.
- Understanding of procedural best practices in supply chain management.
- Ability to lead, train and mentor employees individually and as a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to handle medium-scale operations and uphold complex business agreements.
Salary Range: R90k - R110k (negotiable based on experience)
