HR Manager – Healthcare Sector

Location: Randburg, Gauteng

Position Type: Permanent | Full-Time

Working Hours: Monday – Friday | 07:00 – 16:00

Introduction

Medical Resources Group is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established Healthcare Centre in Randburg, for an experienced, qualified, and professionally registered HR Manager.

This is a senior management position responsible for overseeing the full Human Resources function across a workforce of approximately 220 employees. The successful candidate will provide strategic HR leadership while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day operational management of Human Resources, ensuring legislative compliance, employee engagement, organisational development, and best HR practices within a structured healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Management

  • Manage and oversee the complete HR function across the organisation.
  • Develop, implement, review, and maintain HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all South African labour legislation and employment regulations.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, HR systems, and reporting.
  • Provide strategic HR guidance to executive management.

Recruitment, Onboarding & Retention

  • Manage the full recruitment and selection process.
  • Coordinate onboarding and induction programmes.
  • Develop and implement employee retention strategies.
  • Support workforce planning and succession planning initiatives.
  • Build employer branding initiatives to attract quality talent.

Employee Relations

  • Manage employee relations, grievances, disciplinary processes, hearings, and investigations.
  • Advise management on labour legislation and employee relations matters.
  • Represent the organisation during CCMA matters where required.
  • Promote fair, consistent, and legally compliant HR practices.

Performance Management & Development

  • Oversee the performance management process.
  • Identify organisational training needs.
  • Coordinate employee development initiatives.
  • Support leadership development and career progression programmes.

Compliance & Employment Equity

  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Labour Relations Act (LRA)
    • Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
    • Employment Equity Act (EEA)
    • Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS)
    • COIDA requirements
  • Manage Employment Equity planning, implementation, and reporting.
  • Support B-BBEE compliance through HR reporting and workforce planning.
  • Coordinate HR compliance audits.

HR Administration

  • Oversee HR reporting and analytics.
  • Manage Injury on Duty (IOD) processes.
  • Support payroll by providing accurate HR information and employee data (payroll processing is not part of this role).
  • Ensure HRIS data integrity and reporting accuracy.

Minimum Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
  • Current professional registration with the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP) is essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years' Human Resources experience, including at least 2–3 years in a management or senior supervisory role.
  • Thorough knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR best practices.
  • Experience managing the full HR function independently.
  • Experience in:
    • Recruitment and onboarding
    • Employee relations
    • Disciplinary processes and hearings
    • Performance management
    • Training and development
    • Employment Equity
    • COIDA / Injury on Duty processes
    • B-BBEE compliance
  • Experience working with HR Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.

Advantageous

  • Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources or Labour Relations.
  • Previous HR experience within the healthcare industry.
  • Professional HR certification, such as:
    • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
    • PHR or SPHR
    • Other recognised HR certifications.
