Regional Manager: Responsible Business, Governance & Support Functions

Mission of the role

To provide strategic oversight, coordination and governance across key regional support functions, enabling responsible, ethical, compliant and well-aligned business practices across the Southern Africa region.

The role supports the region by connecting governance, SHEQ, corporate communications, trade compliance, CSR, procurement governance and socio-economic transformation into a more integrated and consistent operating rhythm. It ensures that support functions are not working in isolation, but are aligned to business priorities, regional risks, operational needs and responsible business expectations.

As Regional Manager: Responsible Business, Governance & Support Functions, you act as a strategic enabler and trusted advisor to regional leadership. The role provides clarity, alignment, escalation support and oversight across multiple entities and countries, helping the business strengthen controls, reduce duplication, improve communication, support compliance and deliver meaningful socio-economic impact.

Your Mission

  • Provide strategic oversight, coordination, and governance across support functions in Southern Africa.
  • Enable ethical, compliant, and aligned business practices.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, ensuring integration and reducing duplication.

Governance & Risk

  • Oversee governance frameworks, reporting, and control processes.
  • Maintain visibility of risks and emerging issues.
  • Harmonise policies, audits, and training across entities.

Support Functions Oversight

  • Coordinate governance, SHEQ, communications, trade compliance, CSR, procurement, and transformation.
  • Clarify roles, reduce duplication, and align priorities with business needs.

SHEQ Alignment

  • Promote preventative, risk-based health, safety, environment, and quality practices.
  • Ensure cross-entity collaboration and visibility of SHEQ risks and actions.

Corporate Communications

  • Ensure clear, consistent communication on governance, compliance, CSR, and transformation.
  • Support internal/external stakeholder communication and leadership updates.

Trade Compliance

  • Coordinate sanctions screening, export controls, and due diligence.
  • Facilitate training, escalation, and investigations.

Procurement Governance

  • Strengthen supplier integrity, ethical sourcing, and third-party risk management.
  • Support supplier due diligence, audits, and corrective actions.

CSR & Transformation

  • Align CSR initiatives with business priorities and community impact.
  • Champion ESG, BBBEE, Employment Equity, and localisation frameworks.

Regional Harmonisation

  • Consolidate regional efforts, build communities of practice, and improve reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement and simplification across support functions.

Your Profile

  • Degree/postgraduate in Governance, Risk, Business Administration, Law, Compliance, Procurement, Communication, SHEQ, or Sustainability.
  • 10+ years in governance, compliance, SHEQ, CSR, ESG, procurement, or responsible business.
  • Experience across multiple entities/countries with strong knowledge of controls and risks.
  • Familiarity with trade compliance, procurement governance, ESG, BBBEE, and localisation frameworks.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, reporting, and leadership advisory skills.

Demonstrates strategic systems thinking paired with strong operational insight, enabling effective oversight across diverse support functions without duplicating ownership. Possesses a robust governance and risk mindset, with the ability to translate compliance requirements into practical business processes. Known for high ethical judgment, discretion, and professional credibility, while remaining adaptable across countries, cultures, and organizational levels. Skilled at risk identification, simplifying complexity, and driving alignment to strengthen responsible business performance.
