Registered Nurse - Theatre Trained - Durban

Join a leading private hospital in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, as a Theatre Trained Registered Nurse. We are looking for a dedicated and skilled professional with theatre nursing experience who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment.

• Deliver high-quality nursing care throughout the perioperative process.
• Scrub, circulate, and assist during surgical procedures in accordance with hospital protocols.
• Prepare the operating theatre, surgical instruments, and equipment before procedures.
• Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are correctly handled, accounted for, and maintained.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery to ensure optimal care and safety.
• Maintain strict infection prevention and control standards within the theatre environment.
• Administer prescribed medication and treatments safely and accurately within scope of practice.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive patient records and theatre documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with SANC regulations, hospital policies, and patient safety standards.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Education

• Diploma or Degree in General Nursing
• Post Basic Diploma in Operating Theatre Nursing Science
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• 3–5 years of Theatre nursing experience

Experience

• Previous experience in a private hospital environment will be advantageous
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
