Are you an experienced, hands-on manager/supervisor who enjoys working with customers, leading a team and driving sales?

Deltec Batteries is looking for a motivated and dependable Branch Manager to take responsibility for our Tokai branch.

To be considered for this opportunity, you should:

  • Reside in Tokai, the Southern Suburbs or within reasonable travelling distance of the branch.
  • Be able to communicate confidently in both English and Afrikaans.
  • Hold a valid Code 8 (Code B) driver’s licence.
  • Have strong leadership, customer service and sales abilities.
  • Be comfortable working in a hands-on retail and automotive environment.

The Branch Manager will be responsible for the overall management, growth and profitability of the Deltec Batteries Tokai branch. This includes leading and developing the branch team, delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining high operational standards, controlling stock and expenses, and achieving agreed sales, gross profit and customer satisfaction targets.

Daily Operations

  • Open and close the branch in accordance with company procedures, ensuring security, cash controls and operational readiness.
  • Plan and allocate daily work based on technician skills, workload and customer priorities.
  • Continuously monitor workflow to ensure jobs are completed efficiently, on time and to company standards.
  • Provide technical guidance, remove operational obstacles and ensure technicians have the required tools and resources.

Customer Service

  • Handle customer complaints and queries professionally, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution.
  • Actively encourage satisfied customers to leave Google reviews to strengthen the branch's online reputation.
  • Ensure every customer receives friendly, professional and consistent service that reflects company values.

Stock & Assets

  • Maintain accurate daily stock control and investigate discrepancies immediately.
  • Perform scheduled cycle counts and ensure inventory accuracy is maintained at all times.
  • Manage warranty claims accurately and ensure returns comply with supplier requirements.
  • Safeguard company assets, equipment, vehicles and stock through effective control measures.

People Supervision

  • Lead, motivate and coordinate branch staff to achieve operational and sales objectives.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, training and performance feedback to improve employee competence.
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality and leave to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Address minor performance issues and escalate formal disciplinary matters to the Director.

Quality & Safety

  • Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure workmanship meets company standards.
  • Ensure all employees consistently comply with PPE and safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and professional workshop and retail environment.
  • Report accidents, near misses and safety concerns promptly and accurately.

Administration

  • Ensure daily cash balancing, banking and reconciliation procedures are completed accurately.
  • Maintain accurate quotations, invoices, job cards and operational records.
  • Ensure customer information is accurate, secure and updated in company systems.
  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Valid Code 8 (Code B) Driver’s Licence.
  • Minimum 2 years’ supervisory or management experience, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the automotive, automotive parts or related retail industry.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
  • Good computer literacy, including experience with point-of-sale, email and basic Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong customer service and sales skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and manage a small team.
  • Good numerical ability with an understanding of sales, margins, stock and basic branch profitability.
  • Physically able and willing to assist with the handling and movement of automotive batteries and related products when required.

Highly Advantageous

  • Previous experience in the battery, automotive parts or auto-electrical industry.
  • Previous responsibility for branch sales targets, stock control and gross profit.
  • Experience managing a retail branch or similar operation.
  • Reliable transport.

R15 000 Gross salary before mandatory regulatory deductions
