A well-established South African manufacturer with a national footprint is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead its manufacturing operation during an exciting period of growth and operational expansion.

This is an opportunity to take full ownership of a technically advanced manufacturing facility where quality, operational excellence and continuous improvement are at the heart of the business. Reporting directly to executive leadership, you will be responsible for driving production performance, developing high-performing teams and ensuring the plant consistently delivers against production, quality and delivery targets.

  • Lead all day-to-day manufacturing operations.
  • Drive production output, efficiency and on-time delivery.
  • Manage assembly, injection moulding, maintenance, stores and dispatch functions.
  • Build accountability and performance within supervisory teams.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and operational procedures.
  • Lead production planning, reporting and KPI management.
  • Develop technical capability, succession planning and operational leadership within the factory.
  • BEng, BSc (Engineering) or BTech in Mechanical, Industrial, Polymer Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years' manufacturing experience, including several years managing a plant or major production facility.
  • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
  • Proven leadership experience within plastics, injection moulding, assembly or light engineering manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated success improving production performance, quality and operational efficiencies.
  • Strong people management and labour relations experience.
  • Data-driven with excellent planning, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Advantageous Experience

  • Injection moulding processes.
  • Safety-critical or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Product introduction and manufacturing scale-up.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement or Operational Excellence initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate

You are a hands-on manufacturing leader who enjoys being on the factory floor, coaching supervisors, solving technical challenges and driving operational performance. You combine strong engineering knowledge with practical leadership and have a track record of delivering measurable improvements in manufacturing environments.

  • Total Cost to Company: R120,000 – R150,000 per month
  • Performance-based 13th cheque
