Industry experience: 5 years’ unionised Factory/ Manufacturing industry experience as a SHE Specilaist or Officer. Automotive experience will be an added advantage.

Key performance areas

  • Management of company risks within the policies and procedures of Safety Assurance and Environmental Protection through the maintenance of safe working practices and investigative safety. Develop and implement policies and procedures in line with Company SHEQ objectives, targets and requirements. Audit safety related aspects in line with OHS Act requirements.
  • Continuously promote safety through awareness programs and involvement in SHE committees.
  • Chair divisional SHE Committee meetings, keep minutes and relevant records and follow through on action plans.Ensure adequate steps are taken to ensure all auditory requirements are met for IATF 16949 / ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 & ISO 50001.
  • Driving a SHE culture across the plant e.g. near miss reporting, performance of SHE representatives, Fire Fighters and First Aiders.
  • Manage the provision of servicing, repairs and modifications of fire equipment and ensure full ASIB compliance is maintained.
  • Incident investigations, reporting and close out through the implementation of effective corrective measures, aligned to industry best practices.
  • Management of site waste streams, ensuring compliance to statutory requirements and environmental legislation.
  • Manage assigned on-site contractors and conduct contractors and staff induction training.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent.
  • Internal Auditing Certificate in ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and OHS Act.
  • SAMTRAC Certificate.
  • 5 years’ experience working as a Health and Safety Practitioner in a unionised manufacturing environment. Experience in developing, implementing, managing and auditing of SHE Risk Assessment and Risk Control initiatives and programs.
