Position Overview
The Technical Commercial Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for leading Introlab's technical division while providing strong commercial and technical support to sales teams both nationally and internationally. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a key member of the management team, the incumbent will drive innovation, research, product development, market growth, and technical excellence across the organisation.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring Introlab's products remain at the forefront of industry developments through research, field trials, stakeholder engagement, and commercial support. The position requires a blend of scientific expertise, commercial acumen, leadership capability, and the ability to influence growers, distributors, and industry stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Innovation
- Lead and manage Introlab's technical division.
- Drive innovation and product development initiatives to ensure Introlab remains ahead of industry trends and market demands.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop new product opportunities and niche market solutions.
- Provide strategic technical input to support company growth objectives.
Research & Development
- Manage and coordinate all research activities, both internally and in collaboration with external research institutions, universities, and industry bodies.
- Develop and oversee the technical research budget.
- Evaluate new technologies and emerging agricultural trends to strengthen the company's product portfolio.
- Ensure the effective transfer of research outcomes into commercial opportunities.
Trials & Regulatory Management
- Take overall responsibility for all field trials and regulatory trials.
- Ensure technical evaluations are scientifically sound and commercially relevant.
- Oversee product registration support and compliance requirements where applicable.
- Analyse and communicate trial results to internal and external stakeholders.
Commercial & Sales Support
- Provide advanced technical and commercial support to local and international sales teams.
- Assist in developing commercial strategies that support market expansion and product adoption.
- Support distribution partners and key customers with technical expertise and product recommendations.
- Engage directly with growers to promote the value and efficacy of Introlab products.
Training & Knowledge Transfer
- Develop and deliver technical training programmes for sales staff, distributors, agents, and growers.
- Ensure stakeholders remain informed on product developments, research findings, and best practices.
- Support ongoing professional development within the sales and technical teams.
Marketing Support
- Provide technical content and scientific support for marketing campaigns and promotional activities.
- Assist with product launches, technical presentations, publications, and promotional materials.
- Collaborate closely with the marketing team to ensure technically accurate communication.
Industry Representation
- Represent Introlab at local and international conferences, technical forums, and industry events.
- Present technical papers and research findings on relevant agricultural topics.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry leaders, research institutions, and strategic partners.
- Act as a trusted technical authority and ambassador for the Introlab brand.
Executive Support
- Provide technical and commercial guidance to the CEO and management team.
- Contribute to strategic planning, business development initiatives, and market expansion opportunities.
- Participate in management meetings and support company-wide decision-making processes.
Minimum Requirements
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Plant Science, Soil Science, Agricultural Science, Agronomy, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification (minimum Honours degree) in a relevant agricultural discipline.
- MBA or equivalent business qualification will be advantageous.
Professional Certifications
- AVCASA certification (essential).
- BASOS certification (essential).
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years' proven experience in a technical-commercial agricultural environment.
- Demonstrated experience in agricultural research and product development.
- Strong understanding of the agriculture value chain
- Experience in supporting sales teams and commercial agricultural operations.
- Proven track record of successfully introducing and developing agricultural technologies or products.
