Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with customs authorities, customs brokers, production logistics and transportation parties. Coordinate clearance-related work including document handover, inspection coordination, duty and tax payment, customs clearance lead time management and procedure optimization.
  • Collect, sort and verify import and export documents including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin and customs brokerage authorizations.
  • Ensure customs documents are complete, authentic and valid in line with customs declaration and regulatory requirements, and maintain a filing system for inquiry, reconciliation and audit purposes.
  • Keep track of import and export laws, customs policies and regulatory requirements, including tariff adjustments and customs supervision changes, to ensure customs declaration and clearance compliance.
  • Identify clearance risks including incorrect commodity classification, document discrepancies and policy violations, and propose preventive measures to reduce compliance risks and administrative penalties.
  • Calculate customs clearance expenses including declaration fees, inspection charges and import duties, and verify expense invoices for reasonableness and compliance.
  • Optimize customs clearance procedures to improve operational efficiency, reduce clearance costs and support overall logistics cost control.
  • Set up import and export customs clearance ledgers with cargo details, clearance progress, cost breakdowns and irregular incidents.
  • Compile periodic customs clearance statistics and reports to provide management with data for decision-making.
  • Manage full-cycle customs declaration operations, including entry, review and submission of customs declarations for import and export goods.
  • Track declaration progress and promptly resolve irregularities such as customs inspections, classification queries and supplementary document submissions to support smooth cargo clearance.
  • Complete any temporary tasks assigned by the department head.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or National Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Customs Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in import and export customs clearance and trade compliance.
  • Proven experience in customs clearance for complete vehicles and automotive spare parts will be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of customs declaration processes, regulatory requirements and documentation compliance.

  • In-depth knowledge of customs clearance operations, customs declaration systems, tariff classification, and duty calculation for vehicles and automotive parts.
  • Ability to independently manage routine and complex customs clearance activities with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong document review and auditing skills, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to resolve customs and clearance-related issues effectively.
  • Detail-oriented, highly accountable, and committed to maintaining compliance and minimizing declaration errors.
  • Quick learner with the ability to stay current on customs regulations, legislative changes, and industry developments.
  • Relevant customs clearance or trade compliance certifications will be advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with strong reporting and data analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and willingness to support business and operational requirements.
