Role Description
This full-time, on-site Professional Civil Engineer role is based in our George Branch. The role involves leading and contributing to civil engineering design projects, including roads, stormwater systems, water and sanitation infrastructure, and related structural works. Daily responsibilities include planning and executing engineering tasks, preparing design calculations and drawings, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. The engineer will review technical documentation, support project management activities such as scope, schedule, and budget tracking, and participate in site inspections and progress meetings. The role also requires close collaboration with clients, contractors, and authorities to resolve technical issues and support successful project delivery.
Qualifications
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in the design of municipal infrastructure.
- Valid Code 8/ B drivers license and access to own transport
- Strong civil engineering foundation, including Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Design skills, with the ability to apply engineering principles to infrastructure projects.
- Experience practicing as Civil Engineers in a professional consulting or construction environment, with responsibility for technical outputs and coordination.
- Proficiency in Planning related to civil works, including project scoping, feasibility assessment, and integration of designs within the built environment.
- Specialized capability in Stormwater Management, including hydraulic design, drainage analysis, and development of sustainable stormwater solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited institution; professional registration as a Professional Engineer/Professional Technologist is required.
- Competence with industry-standard civil engineering and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar), and ability to interpret and produce technical drawings and reports.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work on-site in George and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders.
