Our client is a leading renewable energy developer and EPC organisation delivering utility-scale wind, solar PV, and battery energy storage projects across South Africa. With an impressive portfolio of large-scale infrastructure projects and a strong pipeline of future developments, they are committed to driving the country's clean energy transition. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Site Construction Manager to lead the successful delivery of major renewable energy projects while working alongside some of the industry's leading professionals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, or Bachelors of Engineering in any related field
- Minimum 8–15+ years' construction management experience, including at least 3 years within the renewable energy sector
- Alternatively, a Diploma with a minimum of 15 years' relevant construction management experience
- Proven experience managing utility-scale wind farm construction projects under EPC or EPCM contracts
- Experience delivering at least three (3) wind farm projects from construction through to completion
- Strong knowledge of wind, solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, transmission lines, and balance of plant (BoP) works
- Proven ability to manage multiple contractors and subcontractors on large infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, HSE, QA/QC, and environmental compliance
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in project management software and reporting tools
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel and work on site as required
Responsibilities
- Lead all on-site construction activities for utility-scale renewable energy projects
- Manage civil, electrical, mechanical, substation, overhead line (OHL), underground cable, SCADA, and turbine installation interfaces
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
- Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, engineers, consultants, suppliers, and project stakeholders
- Drive a strong health, safety, environmental, and quality culture across the construction site
- Monitor construction progress and proactively resolve technical and operational challenges
- Oversee procurement coordination and the delivery of critical construction materials and equipment
- Review project costs, progress claims, payment certificates, and change orders
- Ensure compliance with all contractual, statutory, environmental, and project requirements
- Prepare regular construction progress reports and provide updates to senior project management and clients
