Senior Structural Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced and professionally registered Senior Structural Engineer to lead the successful delivery of multidisciplinary structural engineering projects across the civil and building sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically accomplished professional with strong leadership capabilities to oversee projects from concept through to construction and close-out while mentoring engineering teams and delivering high-quality, commercially sound solutions.

Requirements

• BEng, BSc, or BTech in Civil/Structural Engineering (Master's degree advantageous).
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr.Eng or Pr.TechEng is essential.
• Minimum 15 years' post-graduate experience covering both civil and building structures.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering projects from inception to completion.
• Advanced structural analysis and design expertise.
• Proficiency in structural engineering design software.
• Excellent project management, technical writing, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and commitment to engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis of civil and building structures, including bridges, reservoirs, culverts, retaining structures, commercial buildings, industrial facilities, residential developments, healthcare, and educational projects.
• Prepare, review, and approve structural calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Design reinforced and prestressed concrete, structural steel, masonry, timber, and composite structural systems.
• Ensure compliance with relevant SANS standards, applicable Eurocodes, the OHS Act, Construction Regulations, municipal requirements, and client specifications.
• Provide construction support through site inspections, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, NCR resolution, and project close-out activities.
