HIERARCHICAL MANAGER

MAIN OFFICE LOCATION
- Located in Nigel (Ekurhuleni) at the production site
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- Is in charge to define specific tooling, ensure its manufacturing and its implementation in production.
- Act in respect of standards, AT rules and business targets (EHS, Ergonomics, QCD).
- Perform tooling costing.
Responsibilities
In case of tender
- Identify the need for tooling with the PIM and the Costing Manager.
- Evaluate the total cost of the tooling, broken down in the following categories:
- Study (specification, design)
- Manufacturing and implementation
- Maintenance
During product / project industrialization
- Analyze the tooling requested and propose the adequate solution.
- Write the functional specification and get approval from the Process & Manufacturing engineers, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, EHS and Industrial Quality representatives.
- Send documented purchase request, participate to RFQ analysis, and contribute to the business award with Sourcing.
- Perform the design of the tooling or make it sub-contracted.
- Validate the design through design reviews, involving above actors.
- Validate the manufactured tooling.
- Perform operating procedure when needed and train manufacturing team to use it.
- Follow-up implementation of the tooling and first use. Perform adjustment.
- Specify inspection operations, handling and maintenance instruction.
- Write periodic inspection sheets.
Other activities
- Participates to Alstom Tooling network.
- Contribute to enrich the AT database of standard tooling specifications
- Participate to continuous improvement actions (SWIP) in support to Production.
Educational Requirements
- Technical education. Mechanics. Automation
- English read, written, spoken
Desired Knowledge / Experience
- Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing or Plant Maintenance background with 5 years’ experience preferably in the railway industry.
- Technical experience of Process & Manufacturing Engineering
- Good practice of CAD and PLM tools (CATIA, DELMIA…)
- Working knowledge in Quality, EHS standards and Ergonomics.
- Familiar with IS common tools.
- Process FMEA, QRQC.
