A leading organisation is seeking two experienced Chief Draughtspersons (Electrical) to join its Johannesburg. This opportunity is ideal for experienced electrical draughting professionals with strong leadership capabilities and a proven track record in managing drawing office operations, maintaining drafting standards, and producing high-quality engineering drawings.

The successful candidates will oversee drawing office activities, supervise technical resources, and ensure the timely production of accurate engineering drawings in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the drawing office.
  • Lead, mentor, and coordinate draughting personnel to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Plan, schedule, and allocate drawing office resources.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain drafting standards and procedures.
  • Produce and oversee the preparation of high-quality electrical engineering drawings.
  • Ensure drawings are accurate, compliant, and meet required quality standards.
  • Review, check, correct, and approve engineering drawings before issue.
  • Monitor drawing production schedules and provide accurate time estimates to support project delivery.
  • Ensure effective drawing layout, presentation, and legibility.
  • Coordinate with engineers and project teams to ensure design requirements are achieved.
  • Maintain document control and drawing revision processes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the drawing office.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma or National N Diploma in Engineering/Draughting (NQF Level 6 – 240 Credits).
  • Minimum 8 years' related electrical draughting experience.
  • Proven experience supervising a drawing office or draughting team.
  • Experience in work planning, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards and quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to work within demanding project schedules while maintaining high-quality deliverables.

Software Requirements

  • Bentley MicroStation V8i (Essential)
  • Experience producing all engineering drawings using Bentley MicroStation V8i
  • 3D modelling experience will be advantageous
