Employee Relations Consultant

We are seeking an Employee Relations Consultant to provide specialised employee and industrial relations support across the programme managing disciplinary, grievance, and dispute matters and advising line managers ensuring the fair, lawful, and consistent application of labour legislation and workplace policy.
- Administer and guide disciplinary and grievance processes end-to-end, including case preparation, records, correspondence, and outcome tracking.
- Provide first-line advice to line managers on misconduct, incapacity, poor performance, and grievance matters.
- Support and represent the programme at conciliation and arbitration proceedings, including CCMA matters, and prepare the associated documentation.
- Coordinate disciplinary hearings, appeals, and workplace investigations, ensuring procedural fairness throughout.
- Apply the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, and workplace policies consistently across programme staff.
- Support engagement with union representatives and employee forums on individual and collective matters.
- Maintain case records and IR statistics and report on disciplinary, grievance, and dispute trends.
- Identify matters warranting Employee Assistance Programme referral and coordinate with wellness support
- A bachelor’s degree or national diploma (NQF 6/7) in Labour Law, Human Resource Management, Industrial/Organisational Psychology, or a related field.
- 4–6 years’ employee and industrial relations experience.
- Demonstrable experience initiating or chairing disciplinary hearings and representing an employer at the CCMA or a bargaining council.
- Sound knowledge of the LRA, BCEA, Employment Equity Act, and dispute-resolution procedures.
- Must be a South African citizen and able to pass a police clearance verification
