Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or relevant qualification in Textile Technology, Textile Production, or Fashion/Clothing Product Management.
- Minimum of 5 years technical experience in retail or manufacturing within textile or apparel industries.
- Strong understanding of international and South African fabric, garment, fit and category industry standards.
- Proven ability to manage and execute fabric sourcing, testing, and quality control processes effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of textile manufacturing processes and technical product development.
- Expertise in creation and management of Tech Packs, BOMs, and compliance documentation.
- Advanced proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with ability to meet business critical-path timelines.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with suppliers, mills, design, and production teams.
- Understanding of innovation and sustainability principles in fabric and product development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive the implementation of the seasonal fabric strategy across teams and departments to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Source and collaborate with suppliers and mills to develop and select fabrics that meet quality, innovation, and sustainability standards.
- Evaluate fabric submissions, test reports, and standards to verify full technical compliance and product integrity.
- Provide technical guidance on fabrics to product design and production teams to support concept development and final product quality.
- Manage the creation and timely delivery of Tech Packs, BOMs, size charts, washcare labels, and test requisitions.
- Coordinate lab dips, strike-offs, and bulk sample assessments, ensuring adherence to business critical-path timelines.
- Monitor product quality, identify deviations, and collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to resolve issues effectively.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system to support product development and quality assurance.
- Contribute to innovation and sustainability initiatives by integrating responsible sourcing practices and improving fabric durability.
- Support post-season reviews by analyzing customer and store feedback to drive continuous improvement in fabric quality and performance.
