Tower Maintenance Technician
Department: Telecommunications Infrastructure Operations
Reports To: Tower Maintenance Supervisor / Regional Operations Manager
Location: National (South Africa)
Position Summary
24Solutions is seeking experienced Tower Maintenance Technicians to join our national telecommunications infrastructure division.
Successful candidates will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of telecommunications tower infrastructure while maintaining strict compliance with Work at Height legislation, ATC Africa standards, client requirements, and South African Health & Safety Regulations.
This role requires individuals who are comfortable working at heights of up to 100 metres, possess excellent climbing ability, and have extensive experience working on telecommunications towers.
Primary Responsibilities
Tower Maintenance
- Structural tower inspections
- Bolt torque inspections
- Tower member replacements
- Corrosion identification and treatment
- Tower painting support
- Tower maintenance reporting
- Tower hardware replacement
- Ladder inspections
- Safety line inspections
- Anchor point inspections
- Cable ladder inspections
- Ice bridge inspections
- Platform inspections
- Aviation light inspections
- Tower grounding inspections
Telecommunications Infrastructure
Maintenance of:
- GSM Towers
- Monopoles
- Guyed Towers
- Rooftop Towers
- Lattice Towers
- Self Support Towers
Rigging Support
Assist with:
- Antenna replacements
- RRU installation
- Microwave installation
- Feeder replacements
- Hybrid cable installation
- Fibre installation
- GPS installation
- Cable routing
- Cable dressing
- Hoisting and lowering equipment
Site Maintenance
Perform:
- Site inspections
- Asset verification
- Compound inspections
- Fence inspections
- Gate repairs
- Signage inspections
- Earthing inspections
- Generator platform inspections
- Equipment shelter inspections
Work at Height Activities
Safely perform:
- Tower climbing
- Rope access techniques (where applicable)
- Fall arrest work
- Work positioning
- Ladder climbing
- Rescue standby
- Rigging operations
- Lifting and lowering of equipment
Minimum Experience
Minimum 3–5 years telecommunications tower maintenance experience.
Experience working on:
- Vodacom
- MTN
- Telkom
- ATC
- IHS Towers
- Helios
- SBA Towers
- MAST
will be advantageous.
Candidates must have experience with:
- Tower climbing
- Telecom maintenance

Mandatory Qualifications
Valid Work at Height Certificate
Fall Arrest & Rescue Certificate
RF / EMF Awareness Training
Valid Medical Certificate for Working at Heights
Fall Protection Equipment Inspection knowledge
Valid Driver's Licence (Code B minimum)
