Ensure safe and affordable railway operation by executing activities and directing resources related to track maintenance manual. Optimization of a work group doing and maintenance, rehabilitation and repairs of track infrastructure over a specific geographical area to prescribed quality and safety standards.Position Outputs1.Receive plan maintenance orders (based on the field inspection conducted) from the track inspector on the conditions of the track and other parts of the track to determine if there are any defects or deviations from the maintenance standards and norms. 2.Responsible for the execution of supervision of the track maintenance according to the maintenance plan and train/operational plan. 3.Controls and issues detonators (Classified to Explosives Act) to ensure compliance to explosives act and operational safety procedures. 4.Performs various administration duties of moderate complexity to ensure proper control of the work processes and resources. 5.Supervises and conduct performance assessments for all directly assigned personnel to ensure proper management of the people management and availability of required competences.

  • Day to day care and servicing of vehicle and equipment according to company policy and procedures. 7.Protect the track during maintenance according to the protection rules and procedures. 8.Independently performance physical maintenance of the track infrastructure as instructed by the Track Inspector. 9.Responds to call-outs faults. 10.Ensure that the right working tools are in the right condition, are available and returned daily. 11.Ensure that his team is transported to the workplace safely and on time. 12.Obtain occupation from the Train Control officer before working on the track to ensure protection standards are correctly set out, to provide feedback of the necessary activities performed on the track and to declare the safety thereof.
  • Qualifications and Experience
  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and/or Science or equivalent
  • Track Master Diploma from School of Rail
  • A minimum of 3 years’ working experience
  • Valid Code C1 (10) drivers’ license & PDP and competent to drive such a vehicle
  • Train Working Rules
  • Code of Practice 29 or be able to attend and pass the first available course
  • Valid First Aid certificate or be able to attend the first available course
