Estimator

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Estimator to join our client’s head office team in Edenvale. This role is suited to a middle-management professional with a strong background in construction estimating and the ability to contribute strategically to the tendering and estimating function.

Requirements

• National Diploma or BTech/BSc/BEng in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building Science or a related built-environment field
• Approximately 5–8 years of relevant experience in a construction estimating environment.
• Strong experience working specifically within an estimating department.
• Previous middle-management or supervisory experience will be advantageous.
• A background in construction estimating is essential; this is not a Quantity Surveying-focused role.
• Strong understanding of construction costs, tendering and pricing methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a head office environment based in Edenvale.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate estimating activities from tender review through to submission.
• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects.
• Analyse tender documentation, drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Review pricing, supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Coordinate with internal departments and project stakeholders to ensure accurate tender submissions.
• Identify commercial risks, pricing discrepancies and potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Support the development and improvement of estimating processes and systems.
• Provide guidance and leadership within the estimating department.
