Portfolio Project Manager

Our client has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Portfolio Project Manager to drive the successful execution of utility-scale Solar PV projects across South Africa. This role offers the opportunity to provide strategic owner-side leadership while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual, regulatory and commercial requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the delivery of multiple Solar PV projects from transaction support through construction and project handover.
• Manage project governance, reporting frameworks and portfolio performance.
• Support technical due diligence, budgeting, scheduling and early works planning.
• Oversee construction activities, contractor performance and project controls.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, quality and statutory requirements.
• Manage project risks, change control and stakeholder communications.
• Review project milestones, contractual deliverables and construction progress.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, finance, legal, asset management and operational teams.
• Support commissioning activities and successful transition into operations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and promote best practice across the project portfolio.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• Professional registration or project management accreditation will be advantageous.
• 8-10 years proven experience managing utility-scale Solar PV projects on behalf of developers, IPPs or owners.
• Significant experience overseeing large engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of project governance, commercial contracts, project controls and construction management.
• Excellent leadership, analytical and decision-making capabilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Availability to travel to project locations when required.
