The term “CBR” was an original framework proposed by the WHO to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families and ensure their participation and inclusion in the community. Who We Are Looking For

Community Based Rehab Team is seeking a passionate and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our growing multidisciplinary team in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist looking to build a rewarding career in Australia while making a genuine impact in the lives of children, adults, and older people across Central Australia.

You will provide services across our clinic, clients' homes, schools, aged care facilities, workplaces, and remote Aboriginal communities, managing a diverse and rewarding caseload.

Whether you are an experienced Occupational Therapist or a recent graduate, we provide comprehensive orientation, mentoring, and ongoing clinical support to help you succeed.

As an Occupational Therapist with Community Based Rehab Team, you will play a key role in helping people maximise their independence, participation, and quality of life across a broad range of settings.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for children, adults, and older people.
• Develop and implement evidence-based, client-centred intervention plans.
• Prescribe and recommend assistive technology, equipment, and home modifications to improve safety and independence.
• Complete high-quality clinical documentation, reports, and funding applications, including NDIS reports and Functional Capacity Assessments (training provided).
• Deliver therapy in a variety of settings, including the clinic, clients' homes, schools, aged care facilities, workplaces, and remote Aboriginal communities.
• Work collaboratively with families, carers, support coordinators, case managers, medical practitioners, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Educate clients, families, and support workers on strategies to maximise function and independence.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and team meetings.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical notes using electronic practice management software.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Travel throughout Alice Springs and surrounding communities, with opportunities to visit remote Aboriginal communities across Central Australia.
• Deliver services in accordance with professional, ethical, and legislative standards.

This role offers a diverse caseload with opportunities to develop skills across paediatrics, adult rehabilitation, neurological conditions, disability (NDIS), aged care, assistive technology, home modifications, and rural and remote practice.

Essential

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent qualification recognised in Australia)
• Eligible for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA), or willingness to obtain registration
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to delivering evidence-based, person-centred care
• Current driver's licence (or willingness to obtain an Australian driver's licence upon arrival)

Desirable

• Experience working with paediatric and/or adult clients
• Experience in NDIS, community health, aged care, private practice, or rehabilitation
• Experience completing functional capacity assessments, home modifications, assistive technology, or prescription of equipment
• Knowledge or experience working with culturally diverse or rural and remote communities
• Passion for continuous learning and professional development
