Role Purpose

The Senior Manager: Fund Accounting & Dealer Room is responsible for the end to end financial, operational, and governance oversight of the FundsAtWork Umbrella Funds, ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, effective investment execution, and excellent client outcomes.

The role drives the implementation of fund accounting and client value proposition strategies, oversees Dealer Room and investment operations, manages audits and regulatory engagement, and ensures scalable, well controlled processes that support business growth and the protection of member assets.

This role is a critical stewardship and risk management function within Momentum Corporate.

Requirements

Qualifications and experience

  • Relevant B Degree (NQF Level 7)
  • CA(SA) preferred (or equivalent professional qualification)
  • 8–10 years’ experience in the Financial Services or Retirement Funds industry.
  • Proven experience in:
    • Umbrella Funds and Fund Accounting
    • Investment administration and Dealer Room oversight
    • Statutory, internal, and regulatory audits
  • 5–7 years’ experience managing specialist teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

Fund Accounting & Financial Control

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a best practice Fund Accounting framework.
  • Oversee monthly and annual financial statements, management accounts.
  • Ensure accurate processing and reporting of contributions, withdrawals, switches, and benefit payments.
  • Maintain a standardised accounting environment across all funds.
  • Interpret and present financial information to senior stakeholders.
  • Working closely with the Momentum Corporate finance team.

Dealer Room & Investment Operations

  • Provide full oversight of the Dealer Room function.
  • Ensure accurate execution, confirmation, and settlement of investment trades.
  • Ensure compliance with investment guidelines, and cut off times.
  • Maintain strong relationships with asset managers and administrators.
  • Identify, monitor, and mitigate investment and settlement risks.
  • Liaise with Asset Managers for large trades and guidance on exception handling.
  • Monitor and approve monthly and annual Dealer Room financials.
  • Liaise with international teams e.g. Lesotho, Botswana & Namibia.

PAYE

  • Provide overall leadership, management, and oversight of the PAYE team
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on PAYE legislation, tax regulations, and related compliance requirements, providing guidance, advice, and support to internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee and review bi-annual and annual tax submissions, including IT3(a)/IT3(b) reconciliations, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with SARS requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory and legislative changes impacting PAYE processes and implement necessary enhancements to maintain compliance.

Governance, Risk, Audit & Compliance

  • Manage internal and external audits, audit findings, and remediation plans.
  • Review and respond to regulatory authority queries.
  • Monitor changes in legislation, regulation, and policy and ensure implementation.
  • Act as custodian of fund related financial, operational, and regulatory risks.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Ensure delivery of financial, client, and regulatory reporting aligned to SLAs.
  • Support client value proposition initiatives with data and execution insights.
  • Build strong relationships with internal decision makers and stakeholders.
  • Track and address fund accounting and Dealer Room related complaints and trends.

Change, Systems & Fund Transitions

  • Liaise with business analysts and system teams on fund accounting dependencies.
  • Support automation, scalability, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Oversee take on of new funds and fund migrations, including migration audits.
  • Ensure smooth operational transitions with minimal client impact.

People Leadership & Capability

  • Develop and execute a People Capability and succession plan.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop high performing specialist teams.
  • Set clear performance expectations and accountability.
  • Act as a change leader during regulatory, system, or organisational change.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and ownership.
