Network and Security Engineer (Senior)

We are recruiting for a Network and Security Engineer (Senior) role.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, VPN, and Internet connectivity solutions.
• Design and administer network security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), web application firewalls (WAF), secure web gateways, and network access control (NAC).
• Lead the implementation and maintenance of Zero Trust, network segmentation, and secure remote access solutions.
• Monitor network performance, availability, and security, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Lead network troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex connectivity and security incidents.
• Implement and manage Identity and Access Management (IAM), Network Access Control (NAC), and secure authentication mechanisms.
• Conduct network security assessments, vulnerability management, penetration testing remediation, and configuration reviews.
• Ensure network infrastructure complies with organizational security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity solutions for network services.
• Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, application, and security teams to deliver secure, integrated solutions.
• Develop network automation and configuration management using scripting and Infrastructure as Code where appropriate.
• Produce and maintain network architecture diagrams, technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
• Mentor junior and intermediate engineers, providing technical guidance and leadership.
• Evaluate emerging networking and cybersecurity technologies and recommend improvements.

Qualifications and Experience

• National Diploma in IT or Certificate (NQF 6) or equivalent
• IT Networks certification (Cisco: CCNA or equivalent)
• Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate
• FortiGate Network Security Expert (advantageous).
• HPE Aruba Networking certification (advantageous).
• ITIL foundation certification (advantageous).
• 5–8+ years of experience in enterprise networking and network security.
• Extensive hands-on experience with enterprise networking technologies and security platforms.
• Experience managing Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point, Juniper, or equivalent networking and security solutions.
• Strong understanding of routing, switching, wireless networking, SD-WAN, VPN technologies, and enterprise network architecture.
• Experience implementing and managing network monitoring and security monitoring solutions.
• Experience with cloud networking and hybrid connectivity (AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform).
