Payroll Administrator

Our client, a leading manufacturer within the engineering and industrial sector, is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to take ownership of the end-to-end payroll function. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and timeous payroll processing while maintaining compliance with statutory legislation and company policies.
This role requires exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, and previous experience working on Sage Payroll within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Process weekly and monthly payroll accurately and within agreed deadlines.
- Maintain and administer employee payroll records.
- Capture new employees, terminations, promotions, transfers and salary adjustments.
- Process overtime, shift allowances, standby allowances, bonuses, commissions and deductions.
- Verify attendance records, timesheets and leave before payroll processing.
- Calculate overtime and shift earnings in accordance with BCEA and company policies.
- Process garnishees, maintenance orders and other statutory deductions.
- Ensure accurate PAYE, UIF and SDL calculations.
- Submit EMP201 and assist with EMP501 reconciliations.
- Prepare payroll journals for Finance.
- Reconcile payroll reports and investigate payroll discrepancies.
- Administer leave balances and employee benefits.
- Generate payslips and payroll reports.
- Assist with annual salary increases and bonus processing.
- Respond to employee payroll queries professionally and confidentially.
- Maintain payroll files and employee documentation.
- Ensure compliance with SARS, BCEA, UIF and other applicable labour legislation.
- Support HR with audits and reporting requirements.
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Payroll Administration qualification or relevant HR/Finance qualification advantageous.
- Minimum 3–5 years' payroll administration experience.
- Minimum 3 years' experience using Sage Payroll (essential).
- Manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment experience preferred.
- Sound knowledge of BCEA, PAYE, UIF, SDL and SARS payroll legislation.
- Experience processing weekly and monthly payroll.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Bargaining Council payrolls
- Shift-based payroll environments
- Time and Attendance systems (e.g. Kronos, Jarrison, ESS or similar)
- Payrolls exceeding 200 employees
- HRIS integration with Sage Payroll
Salary : R20 – R35K
