Mechanical Discipline Lead - Building Services

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Discipline Lead to provide technical leadership within its Building Services division. This is an excellent opportunity for a professionally registered Mechanical Engineer with extensive building services experience to lead a team, oversee multidisciplinary projects, and drive technical excellence across a diverse project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Mechanical Engineering team, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
• Design mechanical building services using relevant engineering software.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering services throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and review engineering designs, drawings, reports, and construction documentation.
• Conduct construction monitoring, inspections, audits, and commissioning activities.
• Ensure compliance with specifications, applicable standards, and statutory requirements.
• Implement and manage quality assurance and quality control processes.
• Deliver projects within agreed quality, programme, and budget requirements.
• Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Minimum Requirements

• BSc or BEng in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree advantageous).
• Professional registration as PrEng with ECSA is essential.
• Minimum of 8 years' post-registration experience within the building services environment.
• Proven experience in HVAC and wet services design.
• Sound knowledge of relevant South African and international standards and applicable legislation.
• Strong understanding of project safety requirements.
• Experience in fire protection, vertical transportation, refrigeration, piped gas systems, building management systems, industrial mechanical services, wastewater facilities, or project management will be advantageous.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.
