An opportunity exists for an experienced DESPATCH MANAGER within a FMCG cold chain operation, responsible for overseeing warehouse, fridges, and outbound distribution activities, based in Northern KZN.
This role is critical to ensuring accurate, time-sensitive despatch of perishable goods, aligned to production and logistics schedules.
- Manage daily despatch, receiving, and warehouse operations
- Oversee cold storage (fridge) operations and stock integrity
- Drive stock control, stock rotation (FIFO), and inventory accuracy
- Lead large teams across despatch, stores, and warehouse functions
- Ensure accurate and timely loading of vehicles for distribution
- Monitor KPIs: dispatch accuracy, stock losses, productivity
- Implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives
- Manage warehouse layout, space utilization, and workflow
- Coordinate closely with logistics, production, and sales teams
- Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and operational standards
- Manage returns, damages, and reconciliation processes
- Report on operational performance and efficiencies
- Diploma / Degree in Supply Chain / Warehouse Management (advantageous)
- 5–8+ years’ FMCG warehouse/despatch experience
- 3+ years’ experience managing large teams (100+ staff advantageous)
- Strong stock control and inventory management experience
- Experience with ERP/WMS systems (SAP / Mosaic / Similar)
- Advanced Excel and reporting capability
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to work in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments
- Understanding of cold chain and perishable goods handling
- Stable employment history required
