Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Renewables Engineer to join their Cape Town team. This opportunity is ideal for a technically accomplished engineer with extensive utility-scale renewable energy experience who is passionate about delivering high-quality advisory and engineering services across Southern Africa and international markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical advisory services for utility-scale Solar PV and Wind Energy projects
  • Manage projects from feasibility through to commissioning and operational support
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across electrical, mechanical, civil, and control disciplines
  • Review project designs and recommend technical improvements
  • Prepare technical specifications, Bills of Materials, and tender documentation
  • Conduct technical due diligence for investors and lenders
  • Review EPC, Balance of Plant, and O&M contracts
  • Monitor construction activities, testing, commissioning, and project acceptance
  • Identify and manage technical, construction, operational, and financial risks
  • Mentor junior engineers and review technical deliverables
  • Drive business development initiatives and maintain strong client relationships

Requirements

  • BSc Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or BTech Engineering qualification
  • Registered as an ECSA Candidate Engineer with the intention of obtaining PrEng registration within 1–2 years, or professionally registered with ECSA
  • Minimum of 7 years' renewable energy experience
  • Extensive utility-scale Solar PV experience with Wind Energy exposure being highly advantageous
  • Technical advisory experience supporting developers, investors, and financial institutions
  • Experience across the renewable project lifecycle, including feasibility, design, construction, commissioning, and operations
  • Strong understanding of energy yield assessments, PV layouts, and grid integration
  • Excellent project management, report-writing, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness to travel extensively within South Africa and internationally
