Intermediate AI Software Engineer

Our client is looking for an Intermediate Software Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team delivering high-quality software solutions across a diverse range of projects. This role offers the opportunity to work with modern technologies, contribute to AI-enabled software solutions, and take ownership of features from design through deployment while collaborating with experienced engineers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain high-quality software applications.
• Take ownership of features and modules throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Participate in solution design, estimation and architecture discussions.
• Develop clean, efficient and maintainable code using modern development practices.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients and technical stakeholders.
• Mentor and support junior developers where appropriate.
• Contribute to the development of AI-enabled features and explore opportunities to leverage Machine Learning and Large Language Models (LLMs) within software solutions.
• Ensure software meets business, security and quality standards.

Minimum Requirements

• BSc Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years' professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in two or more of the following technologies:
  • C#
  • TypeScript
  • Python
  • .NET
  • React
  • Angular
• Flutter experience will be advantageous.
• Exposure to AI technologies, including Machine Learning (ML) and Large Language Models (LLMs), is highly desirable.
• Experience integrating AI services, APIs or AI-assisted development tools will be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, object-oriented programming and design patterns.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.
• Curious mindset with a passion for learning emerging technologies.
• South African citizen
