Assistant Finance Manager – CA(SA)

A leading premium retail and lifestyle company is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Finance Manager to join its finance team based in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town.

This opportunity is ideal for a newly qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) looking to move into a commercially focused finance role within a dynamic retail environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified CA(SA) (Essential)
• Completed SAICA Articles at a recognised audit firm
• Newly qualified CA(SA)s are encouraged to apply
• Commercial post-articles experience advantageous
• Retail, FMCG or multi-entity experience beneficial
• Strong ERP systems knowledge (Odoo advantageous)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent analytical and financial reporting abilities

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes
• Maintain accurate general ledger records across multiple entities
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
• Assist with annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
• Ensure accurate reporting across retail, wholesale and e-commerce operations

Compliance & Financial Controls

• Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE and statutory requirements
• Assist with external audits and audit preparation
• Maintain and improve internal financial controls
• Ensure adherence to financial policies and governance procedures

Operational Finance

• Support creditors, debtors and inventory accounting
• Manage inventory accounting across multiple sales channels
• Perform intercompany reconciliations
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management

Systems & Process Improvement

• Maintain financial integrity within the ERP system
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes
• Assist with automation initiatives and workflow improvements
• Support finance transformation projects

Business & Strategic Support

• Partner with the Finance Manager on strategic business initiatives
• Provide financial support for retail expansion and operational projects
• Assist with financial analysis to support business decision-making
• Participate in cross-functional projects to improve business performance
