Purpose of the job

Capturing and shooting high-quality content for our website and social media platforms. In addition to hands-on photography, this role acts a team leader photographers and stylists, ensuring all visual content aligns with our brand standards, setout processes, and production timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead styling, photography and layout recommendations for shoots.
  • Responsible for staying abreast of e-commerce trends and continually improve efficiency in quality and time to produce photographs
  • Lead the photography & execution of high volume e-commerce product and on-body content
  • Oversee the delivery of accurate, colour-consistent, and commercially effective photography
  • Ability to tether all images to CaptureOne proficiently
  • Capturing engaging digital photographic content for social media platforms.
  • Strong Videography knowledge
  • Directs shoots, coordinate sets, and tailor photography styles to match social media performance data and customer preferences.
  • Ensure imagery aligns with brand guidelines and current social media trends
  • Ability to shoot social content in both natural and studio lighting
  • Operations & Budget Management:
  • Manage the photographic studio, equipment, and digital library.
  • Responsible for the photographic budget, procurement of materials
  • Build relationships with freelancers and agencies to ensure peak-period efficiency
  • Maintain equipment, flagging any issues to the Production Manager
  • Help maintain backups and ensure filing remains organised and up to date
  • Mentorship & Reporting:
  • Provide ad-hoc support, including training interns and marketing staff members, while managing accurate reporting on photographic output.
  • Product photographers & website photographers will report directly to the Photography lead.
  • Provide day to day leadership, guidance, and support to product photographers and website photographers.
  • Ensure consistent image quality, brand standards and adherence to studio processes.
  • Studio Culture & Collaboration
  • Participate in regular team meetings and photography workshops
  • Collaborate to a positive, supportive studio culture
  • Collaborate closely with the styling, post production, and operations team

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification (Diploma/Degree) in Photography or Visual arts
  • 3 - 5 years relevant website/social media photography experience in digital environment
  • Photography for various social media platforms
  • Proven experience in both e-commerce and social media photography in fashion
  • Experience in directing models during clothing, footwear and accessory photographic shoots
  • Library expert
  • Understanding of composition, exposure, colour and product styling & lighting
  • Strong understanding of studio lighting and modifiers (Godox experience preferred)
  • Experience gained in a Retail Fashion environment will be an advantage
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and operate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Software: Google Suite; Adobe Software; CaptureOne
  • Proficient in Adobe photoshop and Lightroom
  • AI advantageous
  • Experience with professional lighting and studio equipment
  • Understands general photographic and image terminology
  • Able to operate a vertical and Horizontal Styleshoot Machine will be an advantage
  • A good understanding of the fashion industry and how to put looks together across all business units will be an advantage
  • Legislation pertaining to plagiarism will be an advantage
