Finance Manager | La Lucia, Durban

Salary: R80 000 - R90 000 per month

A well-established business based in La Lucia, Durban, is looking to appoint a Finance Manager to lead its finance function and partner closely with the business on strategic decision-making.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a CA(SA) with 4–5 years post-articles experience, preferably gained within a retail or commercial environment.

Role Overview

You will take ownership of the full finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, strong controls, and delivering insights that drive business performance. This role offers a balance of technical accounting, leadership, and commercial exposure.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Controls

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Produce management accounts and board reports
• Maintain strong internal controls and general ledger integrity
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and relevant accounting standards

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting
• Provide insights to improve cost efficiency and business performance

Audit & Tax

• Manage the external audit process and liaise with auditors
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT and corporate tax

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team
• Oversee payroll and day-to-day finance operations

Commercial & Operational Support

• Manage cash flow and working capital
• Analyse financial performance, assets, and liabilities
• Provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making

Systems & Process Improvement

• Leverage ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, JDE, Pastel) to improve reporting and efficiency
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives

Requirements

• CA(SA) qualification (essential)
• 4–5 years’ post-articles experience
• Experience in a retail or commercial environment preferred
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, controls, and tax
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems
• Proven ability to lead and manage a finance team
