A growing accounting and auditing firm based in Randburg is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented SAICA Clerk (Trainee Accountant) to join its professional team under a SAICA Training Contract. The successful candidate will gain practical exposure to accounting, auditing, taxation, financial reporting, and business advisory services while working towards qualification as a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)).
Audit & Assurance
- Assist with audit planning and execution.
- Perform audit testing, vouching, reconciliations, and analytical reviews.
- Prepare audit working papers in accordance with firm standards and auditing requirements.
- Conduct stock counts, bank confirmations, and verification procedures.
- Assist in finalising audit files and drafting audit reports.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Compile annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and IFRS for SMEs.
- Perform bank, creditor, debtor, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Process accounting records and maintain client bookkeeping files.
- Assist with budgeting and cash flow reporting.
Taxation
- Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and Income Tax returns.
- Assist with tax computations for individuals, trusts, and companies.
- Liaise with SARS regarding client queries and tax compliance matters.
- Assist with provisional tax calculations and submissions.
Compliance & Administration
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
- Assist with CIPC annual returns and statutory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with SAICA training requirements and professional standards.
- Complete SAICA assessments, learning reviews, and training documentation.
Client Service
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding outstanding information and queries.
- Attend client meetings where required.
- Build and maintain positive client relationships.
- Deliver work within agreed deadlines and quality standards.
Qualifications
- BCom Accounting degree from a SAICA-accredited institution.
- Candidates currently studying towards CTA / PGDA will be considered.
- Completed CTA / PGDA will be advantageous.
Experience
- No prior experience required for entry-level trainees.
- Previous accounting, bookkeeping, tax, or audit experience will be advantageous.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Exposure to CaseWare, Xero, Sage Pastel, QuickBooks, or Draftworx advantageous.
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Other Requirements
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.
- Willingness to travel to client sites when required.
- Ability to work overtime during peak periods.
R15000-R20000 CTC
