Project Development Manager - Renewable Energy

An exciting opportunity exists for a Renewable Energy Project Development Manager to join our client's growing team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving renewable energy developments from concept through to advanced project stages while ensuring technical, commercial and regulatory objectives are successfully achieved.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Project Management or a related field
• Proven experience within renewable energy project development.
• Strong understanding of permitting, project planning and commercial development processes.
• Financial modelling and budgeting experience.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage the development of early- and mid-stage renewable energy projects with limited senior oversight.
• Oversee significant portions of late-stage project development.
• Lead site selection activities and support land acquisition processes.
• Manage permitting requirements and coordinate regulatory approvals.
• Identify and implement technical optimisation opportunities to improve project outcomes.
• Support commercial negotiations and assist with co-development and project sale agreements.
• Identify, monitor and mitigate project risks while providing regular reporting.
• Manage project budgets and contribute to financial modelling and forecasting.
